The Federal Fire Service, Zaria Area Command, has launched a pre-ember month safety campaign using sports as a tool to promote fire prevention and community engagement.
In a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASF Umar D. Adamu, the Area Commander, AC Aminu Amadu, said the initiative was introduced to boost firefighters’ physical fitness, discourage idle activities, and engage youths in disaster management awareness.
The campaign began with a friendly football match between Zaria Fire Engine FC and Kongo All Stars FC, which ended in a 1–1 draw.
Speaking after the game, Head Coach of Zaria Fire Engine FC, AIF Umar Abdullahi, pledged to organize more friendlies with sister agencies and local clubs to further raise awareness about fire safety within the community.
One of the spectators, Abdulrahman Auwal, hailed the initiative, describing it as a creative approach that would strengthen public understanding of the Federal Fire Service’s role in protecting lives and property.
