The Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, has been named among the recipients of the 2025 Caliphate Award by the Centre for Intellectual Services on the Sokoto Caliphate.

This was announced in a statement by Abdullahi Kwarbai, Media and Publicity Officer of the Zazzau Emirate Council, and made available to newsmen in Zaria on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the award recognises the Emir’s contributions to strengthening family ties and preserving the history of the Tafkin Kwato war, also known as the Muhajiruna Wal-Ansar War of the Sokoto Caliphate.

The Council recalled that the Emir’s great-grandfather, Musa Bamalli, was among the prominent figures who fought in the historic battle.

The Emir is expected to receive the award alongside six other distinguished Nigerians during the Annual General Meeting of Muhajiruna Wal-Ansar, scheduled for September 11 in Sokoto.

He will also serve as Chairman of the occasion, while renowned Islamic scholar Sheikh Isa Talatan Mafara is billed to deliver the keynote lecture.
