University of Education, Gambia (UEG) has appointed Prof Ahmed Adamu as the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the Institution.
Adamu, is a distinguished scholar from the department of Agronomy, Institute of Agricultural Research, ABU Zaria.
According to a verified Facebook page of IAR, the announcement was made by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology on behalf of Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of Gambia and Chancellor of the University.
It further stated that the appointment followed a rigorous selection process conducted by the UEG Governing Council, culminating in Professor Adamu’s emergence as the institution’s first Vice-Chancellor.
Prof. Ahmed Adamu is a renowned scholar and respected academic leader with decades of impactful contributions to teaching, research, and institutional governance.
His strategic vision and passion for research-led development are expected to drive UEG’s mission of becoming a world-class teacher training university and a hub of educational excellence in Africa.
The IAR community while congratulating Prof. Adamu’s appointment said the elevation is not only a personal milestone but also a testament to the Institute’s tradition of nurturing visionary leaders who continue to make global impact in academia and beyond.
