The Garkuwan Kudun Zazzau, Dr. Muhammad Sani Uwaisu, FCNA, has described politics as a noble service to humanity, emphasizing that true leadership must focus on improving the lives of the people.
Speaking in an interview with Daily Naija Updates in Zaria, Dr. Uwaisu said many people have been calling on him to join politics.
However, he noted that he and his associates are still consulting widely to determine the best and most transparent approach to participate.
According to him, politics is like a game of numbers — some have one supporter while others have fifty — meaning that balance is not always possible.
“Perhaps the goodwill we enjoyed during our time in public service, such as helping students pay school fees and supporting youth groups and community associations, has made people believe that if we enter politics, we can do even more,” he explained.
Dr. Uwaisu said his greatest desire is to continue engaging with community members and listening to their opinions because, in his words, “if the people want us, they will show it; but if they don’t, no amount of effort can change that.”
He added that whenever he reflects on the current state of society, he prays for divine guidance and wisdom in whatever lies ahead.
“If God decrees that I should participate in politics,” he said, “my only prayer is that it becomes a path that leads me to paradise. True politics is about doing good for the people — it is a service to the community and to religion.”
Dr. Uwaisu urged the public to continue praying for him and supporting leaders with sincere intentions to serve.
He assured that if given the opportunity, he would dedicate himself fully to improving the welfare and progress of his people.
He also reiterated his lifelong ambition, saying: “My greatest dream in life is to see our people educated, our youths gainfully employed, and our young men and women becoming responsible leaders in society.
Adding that, we must use whatever position or knowledge God has given us to create opportunities and ease the struggles of our youth. I pray that we all end our journeys in peace and with God’s mercy.”
