It was a moment of joy, gratitude and deep reflection as the Rt. Hon. Sani Mohammed Sha’aban, Dan Buram Zazzau and Barden Keffi, celebrated the wedding ceremony of his two daughters, Surayya and Rabiat Mohammed Sha’aban, in a colourful event that drew dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond.
Speaking during the ceremony, the former governorship aspirant and former Member of the House of Representatives for Sabon Gari Federal Constituency described the occasion as a long-awaited and special day for his family, thanking Almighty Allah for making it possible.
“This is something we have been looking forward to for almost one year. Today, by the will of God, 20th December, it has finally come. We thank Almighty Allah for this great occasion,” he said.
Rt. Hon. Sha’aban expressed delight at the wide turnout, noting that guests attended from virtually all parts of Nigeria as well as from Africa, Europe and Asia. He described the gathering as a reflection of unity, love and the value of human relationships.
According to him, the greatest wealth in life is not money or knowledge, but people. He explained that material wealth can diminish and knowledge varies in levels, but the wealth of humanity endures.
“If God blesses you with people, you can sleep peacefully. Money can finish, and there will always be someone more knowledgeable. But the greatest wealth is the wealth of mankind,” he said.
He noted that having people around — professionals, scholars, military officers, medical practitioners, students and members of the media — creates a strong community that supports one another in times of need.
The elder statesman expressed profound appreciation to the Zazzau Emirate Council, particularly the Emir of Zazzau and senior council members, for their support and participation in the wedding ceremony. He described the giving out of his daughters by the Emirate representatives as a great honour to his family.
He also acknowledged the presence of Kaduna State government officials, including members of the state executive council and the First Lady of Kaduna State, thanking them for their goodwill and prayers.
Rt. Hon. Sha’aban further commended the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, encouraging him to remain steadfast despite challenges associated with leadership.
“He is doing wonderfully well. You cannot satisfy everyone, and criticism should not deter him from pursuing positive objectives. We are proud of him as a constituency, as a state and as a region,” he said.
He also praised the Kaduna State Governor and his administration, urging leaders to embrace patience as a guiding principle in governance.
Reflecting on his personal philosophy, Rt. Hon. Sha’aban said his greatest fulfilment in life lies in serving humanity and making people happy.
“My happiness is in serving mankind. When I give, I am happier than the person receiving. When I serve and see people happy, I am fulfilled. Alhamdulillah, I have lived a contented and fulfilled life,” he concluded.
The wedding ceremony was marked by prayers, cultural displays and goodwill messages, symbolising unity, gratitude and enduring human values.
