The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D, GCON, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of two illustrious personalities from Zaria, Alhaji Abubakar Hayatu Bambale and Malam Mohammed Hadi Umar.
While Alhaji Hayatu Bambale, who held the traditional title of Sarkin Sudan of Zazzau, died on Thursday at the age of 78, Malam Hadi, the chairman of the Relationship Committee at the Speaker's Constituency Office, passed away on Wednesday, aged 70.
Speaker Abbas, in a condolence message issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, described the passing of Alhaji Bambale and Malam Hadi as a painful loss not just to their families and the Zaria Emirate but also to Kaduna State.
The Speaker recalled the critical role the duo played individually for the growth and development of Zaria and Kaduna State, noting that they were patriotic in their dealings.
"Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihir Raji’un! I received the news of the passing of Alhaji Abubakar Hayatu Bambale, the Sarkin Sudan of Zazzau, and Malam Mohammed Hadi Umar, the chairman of the Relationship Committee at my Constituency Office, with sadness.
“These two illustrious personalities have served their people diligently. They sacrificed their lives for the sake of the people. Indeed, their lives were worthy of emulation. May Allah have mercy on their souls and reserve the best part of Jannatul Firdaus for them,” the Speaker said.
Speaker Abbas extended his heartfelt condolences to their families, the people, and the entire Zazzau Emirate over the loss.
The late Alhaji Abubakar Hayatu Bambale, CNA the Sarkin Sudan of Zazzau, was the first chairman of the Kaduna State chapter of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), as well as a former state chairman of the Buhari Organization.
Malam Mohammed Hadi Umar was a teacher, who taught at different schools in the Zazzau Emirate until his retirement in 2015. He was also the chairman of the Elders' Forum, Tudun Wada Ward, Zaria
