The Zaria Education Development Association (ZEDA) has announced its 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM), featuring a public lecture, major sporting events, and the gathering of prominent national figures.

The two-day programme is scheduled to take place on the 5th and 6th of December 2025 at ABU Hotels (formerly Congo Conference Hotel), Zaria.

The announcement was made by the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Dr. Alimi Bello, during a press briefing, where he extended an open invitation to the general public on behalf of the Board and the Central Working Committee.

The 2025 Public Lecture, scheduled for Friday, December 5th at 3:00 PM, will focus on the theme: “Artificial Intelligence in Education: Opportunities, Challenges, and Ethical Implications in the Nigerian Education System.”

The main AGM will take place on Saturday, December 6th, beginning at 10:00 AM, also at ABU Hotels.

A number of high-profile personalities are expected to attend. The Chairman of the Occasion is Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

In a new addition to the annual programme, ZEDA Sports has been introduced to promote talent discovery and youth engagement through athletics.

The Secretary General of the Association, Professor Isa Abbas, disclosed that the organisation has held a football tournament over the past four weeks.

According to him, the introduction of sporting activities is aimed at identifying and nurturing potential athletes who can eventually represent Nigeria at higher levels. The sports segment is now officially part of the AGM calendar.

Professor Isa Abbas expressed optimism that the enhanced programme—including public lectures, the expanded AGM schedule, and the sports activities—will strengthen ZEDA’s impact on education, community development, and youth empowerment.

The Board of Trustees and the Central Working Committee urged the public, alumni, and stakeholders to attend and help amplify the event for maximum participation.
