FEDERAL FIRE SERVICE, ZARIA AREA COMMAND RESPONDS PROMPTLY TO FIRE OUTBREAK; SAVES PROPERTY WORTH ₦25 MILLION

The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Zaria Area Command, responded promptly to a fire outbreak in the early hours of Sunday, January 04, 2026, at about 02:53 hours, at MTD Junction, Sabon Gari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

In  a Press release issued by ASF II Kamaluddeen Shehu, Public Relations Officer of the Command said, the  fire incident, which was caused by an electrical power surge, affected a three-bedroom residential flat. The estimated area affected measured approximately 50 × 100 metres.

Upon receipt of a distress call from one Malam Sunusi, gallant firefighters were immediately mobilised to the scene. Under the able leadership of Assistant Superintendent of Fire (ASF) Mubarak Salisu, the firefighting crew deployed one medium jet from Fire Appliance 195 and successfully contained and extinguished the fire.

The prompt and professional intervention of the firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to adjoining structures, thereby saving properties estimated to be worth ₦25 million.

An eyewitness, who preferred to remain anonymous, stated that the fire started suddenly as a result of an electrical spark, followed by shouts for help from within the building, The response of the federal fire service was swift and effective.

No casualties were recorded, and there was no loss of life during the incident.
