Returning officer of the APC House of Representatives primary election in Zaria, Hamisu-Ibrahim Kubau, made the confirmation in Zaria on Saturday.
Kubau said 1,376 party members across 13 wards of the federal constituency affirmed the speaker as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The election was observed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Electoral Officer in Zaria, Mrs. Balason Miga, the APC Primary Election Committee led by Senator Yakubu Shuaibu, key stakeholders and security personnel.
The affirmation, which was conducted peacefully, was attended by ward executives and returning officers in the 13 wards of the constituency.
The speaker was earlier affirmed by 250 members at his ward (Kwarbai B) in Zaria Local Government Area of the state.
his acceptance speech, Abbas described the development as historic and a testament to the trust and support of the people on his style of leadership.
He added that the development reminded him of the 2019 primaries where delegates voted him without any inducement.
He said “today’s affirmation shows that the people appreciate and value his representation and President Bola Tinubu’s quality lof eadership
The speaker expressed gratitude for the trust the people placed in him in the past 16 years.
He promised to redouble his efforts in effective legislation and to attract people-oriented projects that would have direct bearing on the lives of the people.
The Speaker assured the people that the best of his representation is yet to come, promising more developmental projects and effective legislative service not only to Zaria but to Kaduna State, the North-West region, and Nigeria as a whole.
The emergence of Abbas Tajudeen as the sole APC candidate is widely seen as a reflection of the confidence and trust the people of Zaria have in his leadership and track record spanning over 16 years of representation.
