Taskira Newspaper has honoured Dr. Fatima A. Kera, a Commissioner with the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (SIECOM), in recognition of her remarkable contributions to community development and public service.
The award ceremony, which took place on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at the Youth Centre in Tudun Wada, Zaria, was attended by family members, friends, associates and other distinguished guests.
Speaking on behalf of the award recipient, Barrister Maryam Lawal Kera expressed appreciation to Taskira Newspaper for the recognition, describing the honour as an encouragement to continue serving humanity.
She described Dr. Fatima Kera as a resilient and exemplary woman who has demonstrated that women can play vital roles in nation-building and societal development.
According to her, despite prevailing stereotypes that often limit women's roles to domestic responsibilities, Dr. Kera has proven through her achievements that women are capable of making meaningful contributions in public service and leadership.
Barrister Maryam noted that Dr. Kera had served diligently from the local government level to the state level, eventually attaining the position of a substantive commissioner, a feat she said has become a source of pride to many.
She further called on women to embrace education and strive for excellence while contributing positively to society. She also emphasized the importance of good morals, family values and respect, urging women to become role models for their children and the society at large.
The event featured goodwill messages from guests, who commended Dr. Fatima A. Kera for her commitment to public service and her efforts toward the development of the community.
