From Idris Umar, Zaria

On July 19, 2026, the Northern Youth Development Association, headquartered in Zaria, held a unity and empowerment meeting aimed at promoting positive change among Nigerian youths.

The meeting was conducted under the leadership of the Association's National President, Malam Abdulkadir Musa.

Our correspondent in the Zaria area attended the event and filed the following report.

The meeting took place at the office of the Sarkin Kudun Zazzau and District Head of Birnin da Kewaye, Alhaji Shehu Sambo Idris, located in Dirimi, Zaria, Kaduna State.

The event attracted male and female members of the association from different parts of the country, including the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja), Kano, Kaduna, and other neighboring states.

Following the opening prayer, the reasons for organizing the meeting were outlined.

The first was to reconnect and revive the association's members, both near and far. The second was to reaffirm the association's objectives while bringing together both longstanding and new members to strengthen its activities.

The association's leaders stated that its primary mission is to unite the youths of Northern Nigeria while providing support for orphans and other vulnerable members of society.

After the motivational speeches delivered by the association's leaders, invited guests were given the opportunity to share their views on the meeting and the organization's objectives.

Dr. Adamu Abdullahi, one of the association's leaders and the National Coordinator, called on all members to uphold the fear of God while representing the organization.

He also expressed his appreciation for the members' commitment and support for the association, wishing it continued success.

The National Chairman of the Hausa Association, Kaduna State Chapter, Comrade Abdulrahaman Yahaya, also urged Northern youths to rise to the challenges facing the region.

He described it as unfortunate that many young people have yet to learn from the difficulties affecting the region, particularly the problems of inadequate education and limited infrastructure.

He emphasized that young people must embrace education as well as vocational and technical skills, regardless of how modest those occupations may appear.

He added that his organization would continue to raise awareness among Northern youths and prayed that God would grant them the strength and commitment to serve their communities and the nation.

Similarly, the Deputy Chairman of the Zaria Local Government Traders' Association and the Kaduna State Chairman of the Northern Youth Development Association, Alhaji Dalhatu Tanko, affirmed that the association would do everything within its capacity to create opportunities for young people.

He also urged members to demonstrate dedication, honesty, and integrity in all their activities.

Following a question-and-answer session and discussions, participants gathered for commemorative photographs at the District Head's office.

In an interview with our correspondent, the National President, Malam Abdulkadir Musa, stated that the association's doors remain open to every young person committed to the development of Northern Nigeria.

He said the association would continue working to inspire young people to contribute meaningfully to the progress of their communities and the country as a whole.

He further explained that the association carries out charitable activities, including providing assistance to orphans and other vulnerable people to improve their quality of life.

In conclusion, he urged members to serve as worthy ambassadors of the association wherever they may be.

Malam Abdulkadir Musa also expressed his gratitude to Dr. Adamu Abdullahi for the educational support he provides to students in Zaria and surrounding communities, helping to advance education in the area.

He concluded with prayers for everyone's safe return home.

Among the distinguished guests who attended the meeting were traditional rulers and community leaders from Zaria and its surrounding areas.

The meeting was conducted peacefully and concluded successfully.
