The Rector of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, Engr. Dr. Mohammed Kabir Abdullahi, has charged newly admitted students to embrace discipline, innovation, integrity and hard work as they begin their academic journey, stressing that the institution remains committed to producing skilled graduates capable of driving national development.
Speaking at the Polytechnic's 2025/2026 Matriculation Ceremony held at the Conference Hall of the Main Campus in Zaria, Dr. Abdullahi congratulated the newly admitted students on securing admission into the institution after a rigorous selection process.
He described the matriculation ceremony as a formal induction into a community of scholars dedicated to learning, character development, entrepreneurship and service to society.
The Rector urged the students to make effective use of the Polytechnic's laboratories, workshops, library, digital learning facilities and research opportunities, emphasizing that success in higher education requires discipline, perseverance, integrity and effective time management.
He also warned against examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime, violence and other forms of misconduct, reaffirming the institution's zero-tolerance policy towards activities capable of disrupting academic excellence.
Dr. Abdullahi commended the Kaduna State Government under the leadership of Governor Senator Uba Sani for its commitment to education.
He highlighted the allocation of 25 percent of the 2026 state budget to education, the 50 percent reduction in tuition fees for state-owned tertiary institutions, improved access to scholarships and student loans, the rehabilitation of hostels, classrooms, laboratories and workshops, as well as enhanced welfare packages for staff.
He noted that the government's support had also facilitated the accreditation of several new academic programmes, thereby expanding the Polytechnic's programme offerings and admission capacity.
The Rector further commended both the academic and non-academic staff of the institution for their dedication and commitment, noting that their collective efforts have continued to enhance teaching, learning and the overall development of the Polytechnic.
In a remark, Kaduna State Commissioner for Education, Professor Abubakar Sani Sambo, represented by the Director of Higher Education in the Ministry of Education, Alhaji Abdul Hamid Ahmed, commended the management and staff of the Polytechnic for successfully organizing the matriculation ceremony and for their unwavering commitment to producing skilled manpower that will contribute to the development of Kaduna State and Nigeria.
Earlier, the Deputy Rector (Administration), Arc. Dr. Isa Adam Abdullahi, welcomed the matriculating students and urged them to abide by the rules and regulations of the institution while developing practical skills, creativity and entrepreneurial competencies needed to succeed in today's technology-driven world.
About 5,000 National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) students were formally matriculated into the Polytechnic's six schools, marking the beginning of their academic journey and reaffirming the institution's commitment to academic excellence and human capital development.
