Hon. Sani Mahmood Shaaban, a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a former gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 Kaduna State elections, extends heartfelt congratulations to Nigerians across the globe as the nation marks its 65th Independence Anniversary.
In a statement released from his Kaduna residence, Hon. Shaaban described October 1st as a “sacred reminder of our collective journey, our enduring resilience, and our unwavering hope in the Nigerian project.”
“Sixty-five years ago, our nation broke free from colonial chains and stepped into the light of self-determination. Today, we honor the sacrifices of our heroes past and recommit ourselves to building a Nigeria that is just, secure, and prosperous for all,” he said.
Hon. Shaaban emphasized the importance of unity, good governance, and inclusive development, particularly in light of the challenges facing the country.
He called on leaders at all levels to prioritize the welfare of citizens and uphold the principles of equity and accountability.
“As a proud son of Kaduna and a lifelong advocate for justice and fairness, I believe our diversity is our greatest strength. We must rise above ethnic and religious divisions and work together to fulfill the promise of independence,” he added.
Reflecting on his political journey and continued commitment to public service, Hon. Shaaban reaffirmed his dedication to the people of Kaduna State and to the ideals of the APC. He urged young Nigerians to remain engaged, informed, and optimistic about the future.
“The youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow they are the builders of today. Let us empower them with education, opportunity, and a voice in shaping the destiny of our great nation.”
As Nigeria celebrates this milestone, Hon. Shaaban who holds the traditional title of Danburam Zazzau and Barden Keffi called for renewed patriotism and collective action to address insecurity, economic hardship, and social inequality.
“Let this Independence Day be more than a celebration, let it be a call to action. Together, we can build a Nigeria that truly reflects the dreams of our founding fathers.”
He concluded by wishing all Nigerians a peaceful and joyful Independence Day celebration.
