The Rector of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria Dr. Mohammed Kabir Abdullahi commended the gesture of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Sen. Uba Sani for graciously obliging and approving all the demands of the Unions.
According to the Rector, the demands were: Implementation of CONPCASS and CONTEDISS salary structures for Nuhu
Bamalli Polytechnic Zaria, College of Education Gidan Waya and Schools
of Healths as approved by the Federal Government for all Federal Polytechnics and Colleges of Education since 2009.
Implementation of 65 years retirement age for all staff of the three (3)
tertiary institutions as also approved by the Federal Government.
In a statement signed and issued to the press by the Secretary, Information and
Protocol of the Polytechnic, Abdullahi Ibrahim Shehu, stated that the Rector said the action of the Governor deserves commendation considering the economic challenges the State faces.
The Rector applauded the State Governor saying that this is a clear indication of his commitment and passion to the development of education, industrial harmony and enhancing the welfare and well-being of workers in the state’s tertiary institutions.
He said the Governor had resolved the biggest challenges of enhanced renumeration and retirement age that had been lingering for about 15
years in the State’s tertiary institutions.
Dr. Mohammed Kabir Abdullahi also appreciated the efforts of the Hon.
Commissioner of Education, Prof. Abubakar Sani Sambo and other top government officials for their contributions to the success of this struggle.
The statement added that the Rector also commended the leadership of the Staff Unions of the tertiary institutions for conducting themselves according to labours laws throughout the strike.
He further congratulated the staff of the Polytechnic as well as those of other institutions in Kaduna state for these milestone benevolent gesture offered to them by the Executive Governor Sen. Uba Sani,
While urging them to reciprocate the gesture by dedicating themselves more seriously to their responsibilities for the progress of their respective institutions and the Kaduna State as a whole.
