The Federal Fire Service, Zaria Area Command, responded promptly to a fire outbreak on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at about 17:21 hours, at No. 30 Bature Road, Tsallaken Dogo, Tudun Jukun, Zaria Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the fire outbreak was caused by an electrical power surge.
In a Press release issued by ASF II Kamaluddeen Shehu, Public Relations Officer of the Command said, the incident affected a five-bedroom flat belonging to Mr. Danjuma Sani, a two-room-and-parlour apartment owned by Mr. Hamza Yahuza, and seven single rooms belonging to Mr. Abdulrazzak Muhammad, covering an estimated area of 150 × 50 feet.
Upon receipt of a distress call from ASF Aliyu Maina, firefighting personnel were immediately deployed to the scene under the leadership of Assistant Superintendent of Fire II Zaraddeen Lawal.
The crew efficiently deployed one medium jet from Fire Appliance FFS 195 and successfully contained and extinguished the fire.
An eyewitness and property owner, Mr. Danjuma Sani, stated that the affected building was locked and unoccupied at the time of the incident. He explained that about fifteen minutes after power supply was restored, residents observed dense smoke, which rapidly escalated into a major fire outbreak. Before the arrival of firefighters, the fire had already engulfed two buildings.
He expressed profound appreciation to the Federal Fire Service for their swift and professional response, which prevented further destruction.
The timely intervention of the Federal Fire Service effectively prevented the fire from spreading to adjoining structures, thereby saving properties valued at approximately ₦200 million.
No casualties or loss of life were recorded.
