Kaduna hosts maiden spelling bee finals as students jostle for top position

Students from Junior and Senior secondary schools in Zone one of Kaduna state has showcased exceptional intellectual capacity at the final stage of the maiden edition of Team Addah annual spelling bee competition.

The academic drill aimed at identifying young talents was organized in honour of Governor Uba Sani's initiative of investing more on education aimed at providing quality education and exploring young minds with exceptional talents for brighter educational future.

The competition held at the Federal University of Education, Zaria recorded intense and highly competitive spelling battles as students from various secondary schools showcased exceptional brilliance, confidence, and intellectual ability.

Speaking at the event on behalf of Governor Uba Sani, the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, said the administration remains committed to investing in the future of younger generation, stressing that the future always begins with the children. 

She stated that education is the significance pathway to a reliable future and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to providing education for all children in the state.

"Investing in education remains our top priority as education is tantamount to investing in peace, progress, and prosperity.

"I believe this competition would significantly enhance learning outcomes and inspire students to develop a stronger passion for education.

"I therefore commend the organizers of the competition, Team Adda, and all other contributors for their efforts in facilitating its success." The Governor said.

Also speaking, the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Yusuf Dahiru Liman, while applauding the initiative, described the competition as a strong and practical step toward strengthening the educational system in the state. 

Liman who praised the Convener for her resilience, commitment, and selfless service aimed at ensuring quality education, assured of his continuous support towards achieving the desired goal.

Earlier in her remarks, the Convener of the Spelling Bee Competition, Barrister Aisha Ahmad Muhammad (Addah) said the initiative is a strategic contribution toward supporting the educational reform agenda of Governor Uba Sani in kaduna state.

She emphasized that the programme was designed to complement the state government’s efforts in delivering quality education and nurturing academic excellence among young learners. 

Barrister Muhammad explained that secondary schools from eight local government of zone one of the state participated at both junior and Senior categories.

She expressed delight with the keen display of talent exhibited by all the students that competed in the contest, stressing that the overall aim has been achieved.

At the end of the competition, Zippora Victor of Vital Years Secondary school, from Sabon gari local government emerged winner of the senior secondary school category, while Abdulaziz Alhassan of Alu Dan Sidi secondary school from Zaria local government became the winner of the junior category.

Cash and other consolidation prizes were awarded to the winners and all students that participated in the competition
