The Member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly representing Zaria City Constituency, Hon. Mahmud Lawal Ismail, has commended the Kaduna State Government for the successful execution of the Magajiya–Amaru road project in Zaria.
Hon. Ismail, who facilitated the project in his constituency, said he had nothing but words of appreciation for the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, describing the project as a major intervention with positive impact on the community.
He made the remarks during the commissioning ceremony of the asphaltic road linking Magajiya Junction to Kasuwan Amaru, with an extension to the Unguwar Liman/Albarkawa road intersection, in Zaria Local Government Area.
According to him, residents of the area are deeply grateful for the project, which he said has significantly improved mobility and economic activities within the community.
Hon. Ismail, who is also the Chairman of the House Committee on Education and Deputy Chief Whip of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, noted that when a government is genuinely committed to societal development, gratitude to God and appreciation to leadership are the natural responses.
He stressed that investing in people—particularly through education by returning children to school and supporting other aspects of social development—remains one of the most effective ways of improving the quality of life of the people.
He added that their constant prayer is for God to grant the Governor the strength and wisdom to sustain and expand such developmental projects across the state.
According to the lawmaker, the projects are aimed at revitalising community life, improving public understanding of governance, and enhancing living conditions for residents.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Uba Sani expressed appreciation to the people of the area for their patience, cooperation, and support, reiterating that road construction remains a key priority of his administration.
The Governor disclosed that within the last two and a half years, his administration has awarded over 800 kilometres of road projects across both urban and rural areas, most of which have already been completed.
He added that an additional 500 kilometres of roads were awarded about four months ago, bringing the total length of roads initiated to approximately 1,335 kilometres, with more than half already completed.
Governor Uba Sani further announced that within the next six weeks, his administration would return to Zaria to commence additional road projects, including the Babban Dodo to Ƙofar Gayan road, aimed at improving infrastructure in densely populated and low-income communities to stimulate economic activities.
He also commended the Magajiya and Amaru communities for their cooperation, revealing that the state government paid nearly ₦1 billion in compensation, while about 272 houses were affected during the execution of the project.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of Zaria Local Government Area, Engr. Jameelu Ahmad Muhammad, thanked the Governor for his commitment to development in the area, particularly in agriculture, education, and support for small-scale businesses.
The Project Manager, Ziyad Khaxim, disclosed that the road project was completed within two months, while a community representative, Alhaji Musa Ladan, described the road as a major boost to economic growth in the area.
He also commended Hon. Mahmud Lawal Ismail for his determination and commitment in ensuring the successful execution of the project.
