National program Manager NPM Dr, Doubra Emuren stated this through the Head of claims management of the NEMSAS Alhaji Nasiru Nuhu yakubu in zaria.
NEMSAS programme is domiciling under the office of Hon Coordinating Minister of Health and social welfare professor Muhammed Ali Pate .
The programme is to save lives of all Nigerians with the fist 48 hours to resourcetate the victim.
Alhaji Nasiru Yakubu explained that the initiative is designed to save lives by providing prompt emergency response to accident victims and other critical medical emergencies within its operational scope.
He noted that special attention is being given to pregnant women facing emergency situations, as part of efforts to reduce maternal mortality rates in the country.
He outlined ten mandate areas covered by the programme, including emergencies involving pregnant women, children under the age of five, snakebite victims, victims of banditry, road traffic accidents, flooding and fire outbreaks, building collapses, communal clashes, and cases involving weapon-related violence and thuggery.
Alhaji Nasiru Yakubu further stated that the programme operates under two categories — Urban and Rural emergency ambulance services.
He added that the rural emergency and maternal transport services will deploy tricycle ambulances, popularly known as Keke Napep, to access hard-to-reach terrains and provide life-saving services to vulnerable rural communities.
The heads of claims management emphasized the need for the support of traditional and religious leaders, philanthropists, and other stakeholders to ensure the success of the programme and improve emergency healthcare delivery nationwide.
He explained that the NEMSAS emergency ambulance and free medication initiative is aimed at significantly reducing preventable deaths resulting from emergency incidents across the country.
Alhaji Nasiru Yakubu also revealed that the programme is partnering with federal teaching hospitals, federal medical centres, as well as state and local government health facilities to ensure swift and effective emergency response nationwide.

Numbers are available in the Ministry of health for the General Hospital and some private hospitals to kick start the pilot program.
