The Director of Nurut Tilawah International School, Zaria, Sheikh Dr. Nuruddeen Umar Tahir, has emphasised the need for stronger global collaboration to improve Qur’anic education, describing it as essential for nurturing morally upright and knowledgeable Muslim generations.
Sheikh Tahir made the remarks on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, during a working visit to the office of the Grand Mufti of the Arab Republic of Egypt, His Eminence Professor Sheikh Nazir Muhammad Ayyad, at Darul Ifta’ headquarters in Cairo.
Speaking during the meeting, Sheikh Dr. Nuruddeen Umar Tahir expressed appreciation to the Egyptian religious authority for granting him audience, noting that the visit was aimed at strengthening partnerships in Qur’anic teaching and learning across Nigeria, Africa, and the global Muslim community.
He explained that Nurut Tilawah International School remains committed to raising students who not only memorise the Holy Qur’an but also understand and practice its teachings in their daily lives. He added that collaboration with renowned global Islamic institutions would help improve teaching standards, teacher training, curriculum development, and research in Qur’anic studies.
Sheikh Tahir further stated that the growing demand for Qur’anic education in Nigeria and Africa requires stronger institutional partnerships capable of supporting modern teaching methods while preserving authentic recitation traditions. He expressed optimism that the engagement with Darul Ifta’ would open new opportunities for academic exchange and professional development for teachers and students.
In his response, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, Professor Sheikh Nazir Muhammad Ayyad, commended the efforts of Qur’anic institutions in Nigeria and described their role as crucial in preserving Islamic knowledge and moral values.
Professor Ayyad noted that Qur’anic education remains the foundation of Islamic civilisation and emphasised the importance of cooperation among Islamic scholars and institutions across the world. He assured that Darul Ifta’ is committed to supporting initiatives that promote authentic Islamic scholarship and Qur’anic learning, particularly in Africa where interest in Islamic education continues to grow.
