Sabon Gari Football Tournament Records Success Under Vice Chairman’s Initiative

The Grand Finale of the Vice Chairman of Sabon Gari Local Government Football Tournament (Kick-Off 2025) has been successfully concluded, marking a major milestone in grassroots sports development and youth engagement in the area.

The tournament was organized by the Deputy Chairman of Sabon Gari Local Government, Hon. Abdulkareem Kamilu, as part of efforts to promote youth unity, peaceful coexistence, and talent discovery through football.

The highly anticipated final match between Sa’in Jama’a FC and Zamani FC ended in a draw at regulation time, with the winner decided through a penalty shootout. Sa’in Jama’a FC eventually emerged as champions after an intense and entertaining contest.

The event attracted a large turnout of football enthusiasts, youths, community leaders, political stakeholders, and residents of Sabon Gari Local Government Area.

The grand finale was graced by the Chairman of Sabon Gari Local Government and Chairman of ALGON, Kaduna State, Hon. Sheikh Jamilu Abubakar Albani (Samaru, Zaria), who presented the tournament trophy and medals to the winning teams.

 He also announced financial incentives aimed at motivating youths and promoting sports development.

Cash Awards Breakdown:
₦500,000 – Sa’in Jama’a FC (Champions)
₦250,000 – Zamani FC (Runners-up)
₦200,000 – Third-place team
₦150,000 – Fourth-place team
₦100,000 – Fifth-place team
₦100,000 – Emergency financial support for youths
₦300,000 – Support for tournament organizers in recognition of the successful execution of the competition.

In his remarks, Hon. Sheikh Albani commended the Deputy Chairman for initiating the tournament, describing it as an effective platform for discovering young talents, engaging youths positively, and sustaining peace in the community. 

He noted that the initiative aligns with the Kaduna State Government’s youth development agenda under the leadership of Governor Uba Sani, CON, which prioritizes sports, education, skills acquisition, and youth empowerment.

The Chairman urged youths of Sabon Gari Local Government to register and update their membership with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) from INEC, stressing that active political participation is essential for inclusion in governance and decision-making.

He further called on youths to continue supporting Governor Uba Sani toward a second term in order to consolidate the achievements already recorded, while also cautioning against drug abuse and other social vices.

Earlier, the Vice Chairman, Hon. Abdulkareem Kamilu, stated that youth-centered competitions remain a powerful tool for promoting unity, peace, and positive engagement. 

According to him, the tournament featured 32 teams drawn from all 11 wards of the local government area.

The event ended on a joyful note with the presentation of awards, reaffirming Sabon Gari Local Government’s commitment to youth empowerment, sports development, and inclusive leadership.
