A prominent community leader, Alhaji Sani Mahmud Sha'aban Danburam Zazzau, the Barden Keffi, has called for the revitalization of education through practical livelihood skills to empower youths and promote sustainable development.
He made the call when members of the Ambassadors of Zazzau Legacy Imprints paid him a courtesy visit and formally announced his appointment as the patron of the movement.
Speaking during the meeting, Danburam Zazzau emphasized that the current education system focuses mainly on producing graduates with academic certificates without equipping them with practical skills needed for self-reliance.
According to him, many states in Southern Nigeria, including Lagos State, Ogun State, Osun State and Oyo State, have begun integrating practical learning such as farming and small-scale industries into their school systems, enabling students to acquire vocational skills while studying.
He urged the organization to explore similar initiatives in Zaria by encouraging schools and institutions to establish farms, workshops and production centers that will provide youths with practical skills and sources of livelihood.
Danburam Zazzau also noted that many indigenes of Zaria living abroad could contribute knowledge, equipment and partnerships if such initiatives are properly organized.
Earlier, the President of the Ambassadors of Zazzau Legacy imprints, Ambassador Nuruddeen Nuruddeen Sambo, has said the organization was established to identify, recognize and celebrate individuals who have left remarkable legacies in society through service and leadership.
He explained that AZLI, an acronym for Ambassadors of Zazzau Legacy Imprints, was founded with the aim of promoting positive role models and encouraging community service among citizens
He added that the movement carefully selects its patrons and matrons to ensure they provide proper guidance and mentorship toward achieving its objectives.
