The Provost of Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya, Dr. Ayuba Ambi Aku, has charged newly admitted students of the Hunkuyi Campus to uphold discipline, pursue academic excellence, and avoid social vices as they begin their academic journey.
He gave the charge during the matriculation ceremony for 100-level NCE Regular students held on April 9, 2026, at the Hunkuyi Campus in Kudan Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Represented by the Deputy Provost, Dr. Ayuba Mamman noted that the campus began with only 45 students, 30 staff members, and eight programmes, but has now expanded to 198 students with additional courses including Mathematics/Geography, Mathematics/Physics, Business Education, Physical and Health Education, Economics/Geography, and Arabic combinations.
He reaffirmed the college’s commitment to further expanding academic programmes and admission capacity over time.
The Provost reminded the students that the matriculation oath formally admits them into the college community and binds them to obey the institution’s rules and traditions.
He stressed that a peaceful and conducive environment is essential for learning, urging students to shun examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse, indecent dressing, and all forms of anti-social behaviour.
He further warned that academic programmes have maximum completion periods, and any student who fails to meet academic or behavioural standards risks withdrawal from the college.
He encouraged the students to make the most of the opportunity and aspire to join the institution’s distinguished alumni through hard work and dedication.
He also appreciated the support of the Kaduna State Government under Governor Uba Sani for committing resources toward the development of the Hunkuyi Campus.
Representing the Emir of Zazzau, Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli, the District Head of Hunkuyi, Alhaji Aminu Ashiru, described the establishment of the campus as a historic development for the community and thanked all those who contributed to its success.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Kudan Local Government Council, Hon. Dauda Iliya Abba, represented by Senior Councillor Dr. Musa Sa’idu, applauded the Kaduna State Government’s investment in education for the wellbeing of citizens.
He disclosed that the council sponsored 100 students to study at the college as part of its commitment to educational development.
A total of over 160 students were formally matriculated into various programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session at the Hunkuyi Campus.
Some of the newly matriculated students, including Abubakar Abdullahi and Khadijah Adams, expressed joy at gaining admission and pledged to obey the college rules in pursuit of their academic dreams.
