MAULUD: EL-ZAKZAKY FOLLOWERS CALL FOR MUSLIM UNITY, EMULATION OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD’S VIRTUES

By Hassan Ibrahim

Followers of Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky under the Mahdi Zone have organised a colourful Maulud celebration to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) in Sabon Gari Local Government Area of Zaria, Kaduna State.

The event, held on August 22, 2026, corresponding to the 9th of Rabi’ul-Awwal, brought together Islamic scholars, religious leaders and members of the Muslim community for lectures, special processions and prayers, as well as the honouring of distinguished guests.

Speaking at the occasion, Sheikh Muhammad Sani Fasihullisan said the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) embodied all the noble qualities that Muslims should strive to acquire.

He therefore urged Muslims to study the life of the Prophet and emulate his character, teachings and exemplary conduct.

Also speaking, Malam Abdulhamid Bello said the main objective of organising the Maulud was to promote the teachings and virtues of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.), strengthen adherence to the Qur’an and the Prophet’s household, and remind Muslims of the values and guidance brought by the Messenger of Allah.

The Chairman of the Maulud Planning Committee, Malam Abdurrauf Hudu, said the annual gathering was primarily aimed at promoting unity among Muslims, particularly by bringing together communities from Sabon Gari, Samaru and Kwangila, which have continued to collaborate in organising the celebration over the years.

Malam Abdurrauf Hudu said the theme of this year’s Maulud was “Maulud: The Secret of Unity,” explaining that people with different religious understandings were deliberately invited to participate in the celebration and share their knowledge about the life and legacy of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.).

He said the participation of followers of different Islamic traditions, including Tijjaniyya, Qadiriyya and Shi’a communities, was intended to provide an opportunity for Muslims to come together despite their differences and celebrate their common love for the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) and his household.

The chairman further called on Muslims to unite and develop a common voice in confronting the challenges facing the Ummah.

He stressed that greater unity among Muslims was necessary to address contemporary challenges and promote the progress of Islam and society.

The celebration also featured lectures, special processions and the presentation of awards and gifts to distinguished Islamic scholars, traditional rulers and community leaders in recognition of their contributions to religious and community development.

Our Correspondent Hassan Ibrahim reports that the Maulud celebration provided an opportunity for Muslims to renew their love for Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.), reflect on his noble character and teachings, and strengthen unity among Muslims despite differences in religious understanding.
