The All Progressives Congress (APC) has successfully conducted its primary by-election for the Kaduna State House of Assembly seat representing Zaria Kewaye Constituency under a peaceful and orderly atmosphere.
Honourable Isa Haruna Babanyaya, from Kufena Ward, emerged winner of the primary election held on Saturday at the Zaria Youth Centre in Tudun Wada, Zaria.
Hon. Isa Haruna secured a total of 32 votes, defeating his closest rival, Shamsudden Abubakar, who garnered 2 votes.
Announcing the results, Chairman of the APC By-Election Committee, Malam Nasiru Kura, declared Hon. Isa Haruna Babanyaya as the duly elected candidate, having secured the highest number of votes cast.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Isa Haruna expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the peaceful conduct of the election and the opportunity to serve.
He also extended special appreciation to the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani; the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajuddeen; the member representing Zaria City Constituency in the State Assembly, Hon. Mahmud Lawal Ismail; and the Chairman of Zaria Local Government, Hon. Jamilu Ahmad Muhammad, for their support and cooperation in ensuring the smooth conduct of the primaries.
"I sincerely thank all the delegates for the confidence reposed in me. This victory is for everyone. I call on all members and supporters of our party to unite and work together to ensure our victory in the forthcoming general by-election," he said.
Hon. Isa Haruna pledged to fulfil his campaign promises and provide quality representation if elected as a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly.
Dignitaries present at the by-election included Zaria Local Government Chairman, Hon. Jamilu Ahmad Muhammad; Member representing Zaria City Constituency, Hon. Mahmud Lawal Ismail; officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and several APC state officials.
