CIPSSON Charts Innovative Path for Secretarial Profession at 34th National Conference in Zaria

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, played host to the 34th Annual National Conference and Workshop of the Chartered Institute of Professional Secretarial Staff of Nigeria (CIPSSON), where experts and professionals from across the country converged to share knowledge and explore innovations shaping the modern workplace.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of ABU, Professor Adamu Ahmed, represented by the Director of the Institute of Administration, Professor A.A. Madaki, commended CIPSSON for its consistent efforts in enhancing professionalism and upholding ethics in the secretarial field. 

He described the conference theme, “Innovative Roadmap to Success in the Dynamic Field of Secretarial Profession,” as timely, noting that technology continues to redefine the roles and responsibilities of secretarial professionals in today’s digital world.

In his goodwill message, the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli, represented by the District Head of Basawa, Arc. Haruna Abubakar Bamalli, encouraged participants to embrace self-development and technological adaptation to remain relevant in the evolving workplace.

CIPSSON National President, Mr. Nasiru Yaro, in his welcome address, expressed gratitude to the management of ABU for hosting the event, highlighting the institute’s remarkable transformation from an association to a chartered professional body within eight years. 

He emphasized the need for secretarial professionals to harness innovation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) as tools for efficiency rather than threats to their jobs.

The Secretary of the Local Organizing Committee, Mr. Nuhu Sulaiman Makarfi, appreciated the university’s collaboration and support, noting that the five-day event was carefully planned to ensure meaningful participation and professional growth.

Participants from various institutions described the conference as enriching and impactful, reaffirming CIPSSON’s commitment to excellence and capacity building in Nigeria’s secretarial profession.
