“When I learned of the situation, I found it necessary to sponsor the competition — not just the final match, but the entire event — from the opening to the closing, providing all that is required for a successful and entertaining Nations Cup in Zaria this 2025 edition,” he stated.

Hon. Mahmood who also serve as  the chairman house committee on education further assured that next year, efforts will be made to expand the competition by involving other sponsors from different parts of the country to give more players opportunities to showcase their talents to scouts and professional teams.
Addressing the participating teams, the lawmaker urged the youth to uphold discipline, unity, and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

“Football is a game of winning and losing; there must always be a winner. I call on all players to respect the rules of the game and ensure the competition is peaceful and successful,” he said.
He also emphasized the need for cooperation among all stakeholders to ensure security and a smooth tournament.
