Minister of Defence Says Nigeria Has Overcome Boko Haram, Making Steady Security Progress

Minister of Defence, Alhaji Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar has said, the security environment is dynamic as Nigerian troops have overcome the Boko Haram terrorists in the North East and other insurgence in some region.

The minister who stated this at the 18th pre-Annual General Assembly Lecture of ABU Alumni Association 2025 held at the University's Assembly Hall.

He highlighted their administration's progress in combating terrorism and security threats, with specific numbers of terrorists neutralized, suspects arrested, and hostages rescued.

The Minister of Defence, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, who chaired the Annual General Assembly, said the event will boost national unity and compliment  government commitments of addressing the lingering security challenges in the country.

Minister Badaru Abubakar expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration will successfully tackle the country's security challenges.

He emphasized the importance of local defence production, citing the passage of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) Bill, which aims to boost domestic production of military equipment.

According to him, President Bola Ahmed Tunibu's desire to restored security in order to light the economy and to depend citizens of Nigeria as their fatherland.

The Defence Minister the security are confronting the challenges of insecurity in both Kinetic and non kinetic approach.

Also the present administration is working very hard for each Nigerian feels a sense of belonging.

Alh. Badaru Abubakar said already Mr. President have directed all the Armed forces to sustain all the operations until all the remaining threat was eliminated.

As a member of the Alumni, the Minister urged them to use their global network and work towards driving a positive change.
