Former Minister of Agriculture and leader of the National Union of Fulani Elders (NUFE), Professor Sheikh Ahmed Abdullahi, has called on Islamic scholars to avoid actions capable of creating division within society.
Prof. Abdullahi made the call in an interview with Daily Naija Updates, stressing the need for religious leaders to focus on educating the public on issues that promote peace and unity in the country.
He emphasized the importance of strengthening unity among Muslims, noting that a Muslim is a brother to another Muslim and should therefore avoid anything that may cause discord among them.
The former minister also reminded leaders of the heavy responsibility placed on them in guiding their communities, urging them to understand the significance of leadership and govern with justice and fairness.
He further called on wealthy individuals to support the less privileged in society, saying such acts of charity attract great rewards from God.
Prof. Abdullahi also urged traders to fear God, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan, by reducing the prices of essential commodities to ease the burden on the public.
He appealed to citizens to continue praying for the country, especially in view of the prevailing security challenges affecting many communities, noting that prayers remain a powerful tool for overcoming difficulties.
The cleric also stressed the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence as essential elements for sustainable development in society.
He advised youths to dedicate themselves to acquiring Islamic knowledge so they can properly worship God and live responsible lives.
Prof. Abdullahi concluded by urging leaders to fear God and uphold justice in their leadership for the benefit of the people they serve.
