The Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, has turbaned Mallam Bashir Ibrahim Dabo as the first holder of the traditional title, Maga Isan Zazzau.
Held at the Emir’s Palace in Zaria, the ceremony drew high-profile guests from both state and federal circles.
Mallam Bashir Ibrahim Dabo, a royal prince from the Bare Bari ruling clan of the Fulani dynasty, currently serves as the Head of Central Results Delivery and Coordination in the office of Hajiya Hadiza Bala Usman, Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination.
An alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, he also studied at Harvard Kennedy School, London Business School, and Aga Khan University in Nairobi. He previously served as Special Assistant to former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai.
Speaking on behalf of the Emir, the Wazirin Zazzau, Khadi Inuwa Aminu, said the appointment was in recognition of Dabo’s selfless service and commitment to the community. He charged the new Maga Isa to remain a worthy ambassador of the emirate by upholding integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness.
The Emir further congratulated him as the pioneer holder of the title and urged him to use his experience and influence to promote the cultural and traditional heritage of the Zazzau people.
In his remarks, the newly turbaned Maga Isa, Mallam Bashir Ibrahim Dabo, expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the honor and thanked the Emir of Zazzau for the confidence reposed in him.
“I thank Almighty God, Allah, for blessing me with this honor. And I thank His Highness, the Emir of Zazzau, for bestowing on me the title of Maga Isan Zazzau. May Allah reward him abundantly.
I also sincerely thank all the people who came from across the country to grace this occasion and share with me this moment of joy. I pray Allah blesses each and every one of them and takes them back safely to their destinations,” he said.
