Women Initiative for Sustainable Environment (WISE) in partnership with Women's Earth Alliance (WEA) have trained 30 Women in Lere Local Government on intergenerational farming.
The training which began an Tuesday 8 - Friday 11 September 2026 was held at Lere Local Government area of Kaduna State
Addressing the participants the WISE Founder/Nigeria Program Lead of WEA Olanike Olugboji Daramola said, the WISE-WEA is an intervention to build and equiped women, young females, and girls to regenerative agricultural accelerator.
She said, the training will promotes organic farming practices among women farmers and to enhances food system and security.
Olanike added that it will boost carbon sequestration preservation and it will also facilitates access to capital, market and smart technologies.
She said, with this training women can understand the benefit of applying organic fertilizer in their farms which will saved them from spending much on Chemicals that degrade our soil.
The Founder/Director encouraged the participant to embraced the locally available materials around them for their day to day activities which saves most cost on their side.
According to her, Leading the drive in sustainable cooking and lighting solutions and transforming communities through Eco friendly practices and access to renewable energy.
She said, putting women as vanguard of innovative waste recycling/ upscaling and fostering a cleaner, greener future to our communities.
The Director pointed out that, approach to the issues of environmental sustainability is an integrated one as WISE engages in environmental projects and programmes in the hygiene, municipal waste management and tourism
Also speaking an Horticulturist Mrs. Victoria John Idoko said she ventured into seedling farming to support her family and herself which she saw the benefit till today.
Idoko added that she is in Lere Local Government ta trained women on how to start seedling farming from the nursery stage to the growing position.
According yo her, if women embraced this seedling farming particularly the economic trees they will stand to benefit on so many ways that is on health, environmental protection among other benefits.
The Horticulturist advised women not to allowed this simple and benefiting activities to sleep away from them.
Some participants have expressed their delight over the training they received in the last four days by Women Initiative for Sustainable Environment (WISE) on .intergenerational farming.
Hafsat Adamu of Wassa Fiti commended WISE for the educative and enlightenment they brought to them at this trying period and promised to take her experience down to her community to benefit same.
While sharing her experience Madam Deborah Clement from Maigamo Ward said, WISE has really wake them up on the how organic application on their farms are very important to our soil.
Mrs. Solomi Gedeon of Abadawa Ward has appealed to WISE to consider Lere Local Govt as its hub by having an office for more members to join and benefit from the knowledge WISE is transferring to the grassroot.
