* Dr. Nuru R. Asabe Emerges Winner of the Third Category Award

Three academics of the Federal University of Education (FUE), Zaria have been selected for the African Forum for Innovative Teachers (AFFIT) Research Grant Writing Programme following their successful participation in the grand finale of the AFIT Research Fellowship Induction Ceremony held in Abuja.
According to Sani Lawal Maqarphy, media aide to the VC said, the academics, Prof. R. S. Abdulrasheed, Dr. Nuru R. Asabe and Dr. Grace Benjamin Uyagu, were among participants selected among other 55 academics from tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
The University's delegation comprised Prof. A. O. Bello, Prof. R. S. Abdulrasheed, Dr. Nuru R. Asabe, Dr. Grace Benjamin Uyagu and Dr. Rabi Bara'u.
Their participation was facilitated by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), FUE Zaria Branch, under the leadership of its Chairman, Comr. Dr Sama'ila Ubale Alhaji, with sponsorship from the University.
The grand finale featured the induction of new AFFIT Research Fellows and the selection of participants for the Research Grant Writing Programme.
Adding to the University's feat at the event, Dr. Nuru R. Asabe, a lecturer in the Department of Biology, emerged winner of the Third Category of the National Women in Education Award.
The event was held on Saturday, 11th July, 2026, at the Permanent Site of the FCT College of Education, Zuba, Abuja, under the theme: "Celebrating Excellence, Advancing Research and Inspiring Leadership."
The FUE Zaria delegation was accompanied by the Secretary of the Union Dr Mansir Hashim and the Treasurer Comr. Muhammad Afolabi Idayat.
