The member representing Zaria City Constituency in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Hon. Mahmoud Lawal Ismail, has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting education, skills acquisition, and community development initiatives aimed at improving the lives of citizens.
The lawmaker made the pledge during the second annual meeting of the Baitul Hikmah Family Association held at the main conference hall of Alhuda Huda College in Zaria.
Speaking at the gathering, Hon. Mahmoud Lawal Ismail described the association as a valuable platform for addressing social challenges, strengthening family bonds, and promoting unity among members.
He commended the leadership of the association for its foresight and dedication to the welfare and development of its members.
According to him, organizations such as the Baitul Hikmah Family Association play a crucial role in fostering peace, cooperation, and sustainable development within communities.
He stressed the importance of collective action and pledged continued support for initiatives that promote educational advancement and skills development.
He donated the sum of one hundred thousand naira and 200 exercise books and also pledged to sponsor 20 children back to primary school, including the provision of school uniforms and writing materials.
He explained that strengthening relationships among relatives and within the wider community attracts divine blessings and contributes to peaceful coexistence.
He identified inheritance disputes, disagreements over family responsibilities, and religious misunderstandings as some of the factors responsible for the breakdown of family relationships, urging Muslims to uphold the values of tolerance, forgiveness, and mutual understanding.
Also speaking, Malam Muhammad Lawal Usman Mai Elser highlighted the importance of marriage within extended families as a means of strengthening family bonds.
He further advised associations with similar objectives to establish comprehensive databases of members to facilitate development planning and empowerment programmes.
In his remarks, Chairman of the association, Abdul Hassan, explained that the organization was established to promote the welfare and development of family members and relatives.
He disclosed that a reconciliation committee had been created to resolve disputes and ensure adherence to the association’s rules and regulations.
Abdul Hassan noted that the annual gathering provides an opportunity to review achievements, assess challenges, and develop strategies for future progress.
He revealed that although the association has existed for over two decades, significant reforms have been introduced in the last two years, including formal registration and partnerships with organizations and companies to support education and scholarship opportunities.
Among the association’s notable achievements, he listed the increase in the number of Qur’anic memorizers, diploma and degree holders, as well as the successful facilitation of seven marriages among members.
He also highlighted support programmes designed to empower women engaged in small-scale businesses.
The chairman called on members to continue contributing their resources, time, and expertise toward the growth and success of the association.
Earlier in his welcome address, the First Vice Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed, welcomed participants and expressed optimism for a productive and peaceful meeting.
Also speaking, Mohammed Sani Shantali, Galadiman Shantali of Zazzau and a member of the association, said such gatherings help strengthen peace, unity, and mutual understanding among family members and friends, urging members to remain united in addressing future challenges.
Participants at the event, including Maryam, popularly known as Magajiya from Tudun Wada, as well as Halimatu Aliyu and Rahina Aliyu from Unguwar Taba, expressed delight at the opportunity to reconnect with relatives and friends while celebrating the values of unity and family togetherness.
