As political activities begin ahead of the 2027 general elections, Hon. T.L. Agbu, a lawyer and candidate of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA) for the Ibi/Wukari Federal Constituency, has called on the people of the constituency to prioritise competence, credibility, experience and effective representation when choosing their next representative.
Agbu made the call as his campaign activities commenced, saying the outcome of the recently concluded Osun State Governorship Election had demonstrated that political parties alone do not determine electoral victories, but rather the credibility, accessibility and track record of candidates.
He urged the people of Ibi and Wukari to assess candidates based on their contributions to the development and wellbeing of the people, asking voters to consider those who had remained accessible and supportive even before holding elective office.
According to the campaign statement, Agbu has contributed to the empowerment and development of people across Ibi/Wukari through political appointments, employment opportunities, scholarships, skills acquisition programmes and business support for youths and women.
The statement also highlighted his role in peacebuilding and community engagement, noting that he has been recognised with traditional titles, including Dan Maliki and Jakada of Jalingo, among others.
Agbu, a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and the Nigerian Law School, said his legal background would equip him with the knowledge and skills required to effectively contribute to lawmaking, constituency development and accountability at the National Assembly.
He said his campaign would focus on ideas, experience, unity and service rather than politics of bitterness, money or godfatherism, while promising to pursue effective representation for the people of Ibi/Wukari.
The campaign urged voters to support a representative who can effectively articulate their interests in Abuja, remain accessible to constituents and attract opportunities in employment, infrastructure, education and healthcare.
The Democratic Leadership Alliance candidate therefore appealed to the people of Ibi/Wukari Federal Constituency to support his candidacy, describing the 2027 election as an opportunity to reset, rebuild, rebrand and recalibrate the constituency through effective representation.
